At a first glace, Ribs & Rumps Fortitude Valley appears to be a bustly ground floor restaurant located in the heart of Brisbane’s popular entertainment precinct. However, as Executive PA Magazine readers soon discovered, the venue offers so much more with its Mezzanine function space.
Executive PA Magazine readers got a taste of the Ribs and Rumps function experience at the Fortitude Valley venue – one of its 13 restaurants around Australia. Upon arrival, the EAs were warmly greeted and each presented with a Ribs and Rumps Corporate Diners Card, including a $30 gift voucher, and ushered upstairs where the real action took place.
Once upstairs on the Mezzanine level, the EAs enjoyed a welcome drink while taking in the warm and inviting surrounds. The large open plan function space, which holds 80 guests seated or up to 200 for cocktails, overlooks the hustle and bustle below and leads onto a private dining room for 20 guests.
With the venue now full, EAs were free to catch up, relax and make new connections while sampling a range of canapés from Ribs and Rumps’ Cocktail Menu, including panko crumbed calamari, wagyu meatballs, pork belly bites and coconut crumbed prawns. A particular favourite was one of the restaurant’s specialty dishes of Grain-Fed MSA Riverina Rump, slow roasted for 14 hours and cut into mouth-watering slices.
A short welcome by Marie Reason-Cain, Ribs and Rumps’ PR and marketing manager, showcased the benefits of the venue for small group dining through to large scale functions such as Christmas parties. These included no room hire fees and a range of great value set menus. While the official proceedings were short and sweet, general manager Mark Kitson and restaurant general manager Fortitude Valley Rob Schroder, were on hand to answer the EAs’ questions on the FortitudeValley venue as well as other locations throughout Australia.
As the evening drew to a close, excitement was high when it was time for the business card draw. There were three lucky door prizes on offer. Firstly, two tickets to the Executive PA Magazine Annual Awards to be held in Sydney on October 26, 2016, followed by one year’s subscription to Executive PA Magazine and lastly a $100 Ribs and Rumps voucher. The night wound down with much mingling and positive feedback on the venue, with many EAs vowing to be back to try the restaurant menu.
HERE’S WHAT OUR READERS HAD TO SAY…
“The venue was a real surprise. When I arrived, I thought where are we going? Where is everyone? And then we got upstairs and it was a different world – I would never have guessed this venue was here. The menu included a lot of different selections which I haven’t experienced before, and I really enjoyed it. I felt it offered something really different.”
-Chermaine Lung, Legal Secretary Clayton UTZ
“Private dining rooms are hard to find, especially in Brisbane, so I found that really impressive. Especially with no room hire fee.”
-Laurel Welsh, PA to Cr Kim Marx, Brisbane City Council
“It was a lovely evening with delicious food. It was great to experience the venue, while it was open to the public, as well as taste the food which would be an important aspect when booking a venue!”
-Natasha Harmer, EA, Invest Blue
“Every single touch point was fantastic from start to finish. The staff were very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the food and menu options. I am going to look at holding an Executive dinner or lunch there in a few months. Apart from the food being exceptional there is no room hire fee which is such a bonus and unusual.”
