Kingfisher Bay Resort showcases diversity…
A group of Executive PA Magazine readers were given a taste of Fraser Island’s Mercure Kingfisher Bay Resort, in the heart of Sydney.
Kingfisher’s Business Development Manager Leonie Belbin hosted a small group of readers at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth to brief them on the award winning eco-property, and how it can cater for conference and incentive groups ranging from three to 300 people.
Leonie briefed the group on its new King rooms which will be available from the end of June, the new furniture in all resort complex areas, incorporating a new relaxed look and feel and the recently launched Mindful Meetings concept – a new signature offering at Mercure Hotels across Australia.
The concept incorporates food and beverage options designed to promote concentration and meditation, and energy boosting activities. It also uses meeting rooms styled to retain attention and drive productivity by making delegates ‘feel good’ including the use of indoor plans.
She says Kingfisher Bay Resort prides itself on delivering tailor-made packages that suit individual clients’ needs. “This often includes a good mix of sophisticated business or conferencing activities combined with team building elements that really showcase the natural surroundings. These can include anything from a 4WD adventure around Fraser Island to bush tucker-style cooking classes and poolside dining.”
She says it offers a sophisticated approach to theming or branding an event. “Venues increasingly need to appreciate that their client’s business is their business more than ever before. Events and conferences need to reflect and align with their brand and Kingfisher Bay Resort prides itself on taking the time to get the little things ‘right’ and doing the big things well. The smallest points of difference can have a huge impact.”
Leonie says the venue was amazing. “The staff from time of enquiry right through to function delivery on the day were very focused on delivering the best possible options for our guests. Service, meals and the Edwin Flack Room met and surpassed our expectations.”
HERE’S WHAT OUR MEMBERS HAD TO SAY…
“I loved that event. It felt really special to be within such a small group and I got to meet some really nice people which whom I keep in touch now regularly. It is sometimes hard to break the ice in large events where everyone goes along with a partner, but at this reduced group where everyone went “alone” I got talking with people and it was very pleasant. The venue was lovely and the food and service was excellent. Kingfisher Bay resort was very informative and inspiring, but not overwhelming and we had time to focus on other things as well such as the hotel group new meeting style more focused on nice food, open spaces and meditation.”

“I had a fabulous time meeting with Leonie Belbin who was our gracious host. She showcased, via a presentation of KingfisherBay Resort, while we were enjoying lunch at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth in Sydney. I have never been to the Kingfisher Bay Resort, but by watching the presentation it has enabled me to have an idea of what is available on offer. Definitely a venue for a conference in the future and team building, and just being at the Kingfisher Bay Resort would be a bonus. It was a small group of Executive Assistants in attendance – always good to catch up with the other Executive Assistants and this has enabled us to get a more personal touch from Leonie. The lunch was spectacular as would be expected from Sofitel Hotel.”
