Codeshare to make travel easier
QANTAS and Air New Zealand have announced they will be entering into a codeshare agreement that will make travelling within Australia and NZ easier. The codeshare will cover 115 domestic routes within both countries and will create faster connections, reducing travel time by up to two hours.
QANTAS will add its code to approximately 30 routes, while Air NZ will do the same for up to 85 routes. By coordinating check-in and handling at airports will reduce connection times, which in turn will open up more onward flights on each airline’s domestic network and create faster journey times overall. Tickets under this codeshare will be available for purchase by the end of July, 2018 and flights begin on the 28th October, 2018.
World’s Largest Airport
Construction on what is set to be the world’s largest airport is going strong. Istanbul’s New Airport – also called Istanbul’s Grand Airport – is due to be completed this year. Workers broke ground on the construction site in October of last year and completed the baggage system in December. The first runways were installed in February.
Istanbul’s location between Europe and Asia puts it in the crosshairs of East-West disagreements. The goal with this new facility is to create a safer place to travel between the two continents.
The new airport will have the capacity to see 200 million passengers travel through it every year.
New departure times for better business travel
At the end of October, a new Air NZ daily A320 jet service will begin departures at 7:10am from Queenstown, travelling to Wellington. A second daily service will then depart at 3:55pm. Flights will return from the capital at 9:10am and 6:00pm. The total number of return jet services between the two cities will be two per day, seven days a week.
Air NZ has designed these additional services to making business travel easier for their corporate clientele. Passengers Travelling from Queenstown to Wellington on business will arrive at their destination by 8:30am, which means they may be able to make day trips, rather than overnight stays for meetings, saving time and money.
