Eas follow in the footsteps of world leaders…
Executive PA readers were treated to a private lunch against a backdrop of some of the finest examples of Indigenous art in Australia in the Plaza Gallery at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC).
The intimate event space served as the ‘Leaders Lounge’ during the G20 Leaders Summit – providing a place of retreat and private networking for the leaders. Proving incredibly popular with world leaders, the centre recreated the experience, allowing our readers to follow in their footsteps.
Using the same distinctive dining chairs and fine Churchill china used by world leaders at the G20 Leaders Summit, EAs dined on the same menu enjoyed by the likes of Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin and David Cameron, including pan seared king snapper and Moreton Bay bug, citrus sabayon and glazed baby carrots with vanilla bean beurre blanc and coconut meringue, green mango salad, compressed pineapple and passion fruit and kaffir lime sorbet.
On arrival guests were taken on a guided tour of the centre’s boutique event hub on Grey Street with its collection of unique meeting and event spaces and contemporary glass façade, providing natural light with views over South Bank and the Brisbane River.
On the itinerary was the Sky Room & Terrace which has breathtaking views of the city skyline and is a favourite for banquets and cocktails from 100 guests. Next was the very popular Boulevard Room with its magical, multi-lit LED canopy for events of 200 guests or more, followed by the signature banquet venue, the Plaza Ballroom with its in-built starlit ceiling.
A hidden treasure was revealed during the guided tour – the Grey Street Arbour Level tucked away from the rest of the activity, with floor to ceiling glass windows overlooking the cultural forecourt all the way to the river – which is used for small meetings and receptions.
HERE’S WHAT OUR MEMBERS HAD TO SAY…
“Delicious food, lovely staff and an amazing atmosphere. What a memorable lunch surrounded by beautiful artwork in a fabulous event space. Such a special experience. There were a lot of event spaces that I never new existed with most rooms having beautiful open spaces alongside a wonderful view. The standout feature was the staff, they were exceptional.”
-Cheryl Slender, Executive Assistant to the CEO, Aerocare Operations Pty Ltd
“What an experience to sit in the seats of our world leaders while networking with our fellow EAs. Thanks BCEC for an amazing afternoon.”
-Petta Traynor, Executive Assistant, Caltex Refineries (Qld) Pty Ltd
“The Plaza Gallery Room was such a delight with its grandeur and artwork, the company and service were a treat and the food was by far the best of any convention centre I have tasted.”
-Jelena Sneblic, EA, Team Assistant to PAM Qld Senior Executives
“I really appreciated this exclusive opportunity and felt so special following in the footsteps of people like Barack Obama and Tony Abbott experiencing the same menu, the grand dining chairs and all the crockery in the Plaza Gallery. I especially loved the quality collection of indigenous art in the room and can not rave enough about the Plaza Gallery we used as our dining room. I sat in the chair of Axel Kicillof, Argentina’s Minister of Economy, and although I don’t know who that is, it was such a unique dining experience and one of my favourites which I am telling all my friends and family about!”
