Why risk and fear are essential for EA development

In an exclusive interview with Chairman of Executive PA Media Russell Peacock, big wave surfer Mark Matthews shared his experience of risk and the challenges of overcoming it.

Mark Matthews is a professional big wave surfer and keynote speaker. When he isn’t being launched into 50 foot waves by jet skis, Mark enlightens audiences with his unique perspective on fear and risk, and growth.

In the big wave surfing world, risk is everywhere. From the moment you step into the water catastrophe is always around the corner. Mark and his team are expert risk engineers. They analyse and mitigate as many controllable elements as possible to ensure when something does go wrong, they’re ready.

“Everything we do is performance. I use the tools tips and tricks I use to underpin my performance and take it to the next level, anyone in the world can use. Regardless of what you want,” Mark contended.

“To be better than you are, you need to change. In order to do that, there is an element of fear.”

At the Brisbane Executive PA Summit this year Mark Matthews inspired the audience with his gripping tale of overcoming fear, mitigating risk, overcoming injury and achieving goals. Click the video link above to see an exclusive interview with Mark.
