Curious will defy expectations, spark imagination and ignite guests’ fuel for life when it opens at W Melbourne in February 2021.
The centre of the action and the pulse of the hotel with a design as impressive as the evocative cocktail list, Curious will be the place to see and be seen in. Blending music programming, creative concoctions and a menu of small bites and sharing plates for an all- night experience.
A secret laneway entrance on Market Street will draw guests in, encouraging them to embrace their inner child. Heading down a spiral staircase, guests will encounter a cocoon-like design formed from timber beams in a parametric sequence. A rich design palette of dark tones and earthy materials will evoke a seductive yet lively feeling, ready for all to soak it in, live it up and hit repeat as the music pumps into the night.
As impressive as the design, the cocktail menu has been curated with Proof & Co and draws inspiration from three of Melbourne’s cultural pillars: fashion, art and coffee. Keeping visitors guessing, the signature cocktails will balance flavour and presentation to ignite a night out.
“Working with the W Melbourne team on Curious has been a wonderful adventure of discovery. There is an exciting energy in the brand that fuels creativity and we’re excited to see Curious to come to life”, says Charlie Ainsbury, Spirits Evangelist at Proof & Co.
As coffee runs through the veins of Melbourne, it’s no surprise the cocktail menu features a W take on the classic espresso martini. ‘A Curious Ristretto’ will be sealed with beeswax and will emit a nutmeg smoke as you take the first sip.
Leaning into the sense of discovery that is evoked by the design of Curious, W Melbourne Executive Chef, Jihun Kim has curated a menu of small plates and sharing bites that will play on unexpected combinations, using flavours not singular in origin to take guests on a culinary adventure. Paired with bold curated cocktails and an extensive wine list guests will be fuelled into the night.
