An infatuated personal assistant who was scared of losing her boyfriend stole over 40,000 Pounds over the course of a year and used company credit cards to buy him gifts, clothes and flights. To cover her tracks 25 year old Emily Watson edited bank statements, which meant her actions were undetected by employers Sequre Property Investments, for a year between November 2015 and November 2016.
She was finally caught after another employee noticed the doctored bank statements and discovered Watson had been stealing cash. She was trusted with the company credit cards and used a PDF editing programme to alter the statements and was one of the few people in the company to be trusted with PIN numbers. Ms Watson was jailed for 18 months.
