As of 11:59pm New Zealand time on April 18, a trans-Tasman travel bubble between Australia and New Zealand will be established. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the quarantine-free travel bubble will go ahead later this month and hopes the news will be welcomed by many.
This announcement is a huge step towards the return of international corporate travel and is a step in the right direction for business and events recovery post-COVID-19. Your executive could be on the plane for meetings and events in NZ before you know it!
While travellers won’t have to be vaccinated to travel to either country, both countries have issues a disclaimer that travellers will be required to adhere to any lockdown, quarantine, testing rules of the country they are currently in should there be any outbreaks.
“People will need to plan for the possibility of travel being disrupted if there is an outbreak,” Ms Ardern said on Tuesday. “But for the planning ahead we want to share as much information as we can about our decision-making.
Travellers are also urged to use the NZ COVID Tracer app when in the country.
