15 February 2022 to 16 February 2022
Donna Kessler and Gary Bender, co-founders of Get Local, invite you to experience the renowned Australasian event exhibition. Join them for this two-day event on 15 February and be one of many EAs and event planners to bring the business events industry together in a flexible and engaging format, that showcases suppliers, destinations and products for meetings, events, conferences, incentives and group business travel across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. Get Local will give buyers and exhibitors the opportunity to meet with the right contacts, identify business opportunities, drive lead generation, build relationships and grow their network.
Co-founder Donna Kessler says, “Businesses need ideas and to innovate, and it can’t continue to be done in isolation. The open floor plan of Get Local encourages visitors to plan their own day and connect with the suppliers they want to see. Get Local will showcase venues, hotels, bureaux, AV, technology and all other suppliers to the business events sector across Australasia.
“It’s time to re-connect, re-build and re-engage as a collective and Get Local is where that is going to happen.
“PAs and EAs are the researchers, the quote seekers, the planners; we know this. Get Local offers such a valuable experience, from re-connecting with the events community and hearing from the speakers in the education program, to attending the outstanding networking functions. There is something for everyone and every budget; and the up-to-the-minute information and connections you’ll receive will give you the edge next time you’re enlisted to plan an event, meeting, conference or organise a groovy dinner reservation.”
Get Local has already expanded its show floor footprint at ICC Sydney to meet the huge interest it has received from exhibitors and buyers. The show will now be hosted in both The Gallery and Parkside Ballroom to accommodate the volume of delegates attending.
Get Local want to make EAs’ time away from tools valuable, from the quality of exhibitors and education program to the networking functions. An EA is often Event Manager, Travel Manager and Supplier Relations wrapped up into one role. Get Local is a chance to re-connect, meet and mingle with peers and suppliers of meetings and events in Australasia. With over 140 exhibitors to meet and see, there will be something for everyone.
The education program will feature well known keynotes and panel discussions from within the industry, along with experts in their field.
Tourism Australia Managing Director, Phillipa Harrison will kick off The Presentation Zone where she will share Tourism Australia’s current activities and the latest initiatives being undertaken for the business events community. This will be directly followed by The Hon John Sharp AM, Deputy Chairman, Rex Airlines, who will share Rex’s strategy and future plans for domestic aviation in Australia.
The Saxton Showcase will feature serial entrepreneur, Lisa Messenger; award-winning producer and presenter of the Health Report, Dr Norman Swan; and adventurer, traveller and master storyteller, Caroline Pemberton, who will also emcee.
Co-founder Gary Bender says, “We, like our entire industry, have felt the impact of COVID-19 in our day-to-day businesses, so we want to do something concrete to help the industry kick-start again.
“Get Local gives us a chance to re-connect and inspire the business events industry in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.
“We’ve created a fun day (or two) out of the office where the focus is networking and learning opportunities. There has been industry pressure for some time for a local show and now is the right time to push ahead with our plans. There is so much incredible product available and conferencing is a key driver of our economy, it’s time to focus on what we have in our own backyard.
“2020 was the year of hibernation, 2021 is the year of collaboration and Get Local is the vehicle where that can happen.”
On Tuesday 15 February, Get Local will kick off with a GET Together welcome event at Doltone House Darling Island, celebrating the return of business event activity in Australia.
Other networking functions at Get Local include the GET Networking Lunch presented by ICC Sydney, showcasing the best local New South Wales and Australian produce. Attendees at Get Local will be energised for the day with a stand-up style lunch of hot and cold items, presented safely with ICC Sydney’s EventSafe measures in place.
And closing out the show is the GET Happy Cocktail party.
Tickets are strictly limited and only available to registered attendees and exhibitors.
“Attendees can register to attend our Get Together welcome event being held at Doltone House Darling Island, at the end of our opening day,” says Donna.
“We promise something extra special for the networking event, which will host the crème de la crème of the business events community from throughout Australia and the Pacific.”
