Singapore Airlines gives passengers free portable hotspot in Singapore

Guests traveling with Singapore Airlines or Silkair to Singapore can register to receive a complimentary portable wifi hotspot to take around the city. Customers can pick up their device at Changi Airport after touching down. The hotspot boasts up to 12 hours of (rechargable) battery life, and two gigabytes of data to use within three days. Up to five devices can be connected to the hotspot at a time.

Visitors staying for longer can upgrade their hotspot for $13 to receive 50 gigabytes of data, which can be used for up to seven days.

Before flying out of Singapore, the device must be returned to the same dedicated hotspot station—which is located within the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Hotel adjacent to Terminal 3.

In order to receive the device, travellers have to pre-book via the Singapore Airlines website. Hotspots may be collectible without pre-booking, but the airline says their availability will depend on stock levels. The service isn’t available to Singaporean citizens or permanent residents.
