A stately city oasis, Immigration Museum is located in heritage-listed Old Customs House, one of Melbourne’s most significant Victorian-era buildings. Overlooking the Yarra River at the business end of Flinders Street – where merchants once unloaded their cargo – we’re immersed in the bustle of daily activity but offer calm and elegant spaces inside our carefully restored building.
Long Room
The Italianate revival style of Victorian-era architecture – think tall Ionic columns, a very high ceiling and extensive hand-laid, detailed tiling – creates an opulent atmosphere in this appropriately named space.
Our Long Room is inspiring in its size, ideal for gala dinners and cocktail events. Originally a thriving hub of trade activity, it has remained an important commercial location for over one hundred years.

Grand Foyer
The Grand Foyer is on the first floor and can be accessed by an elegant, ornate staircase that, creates a wonderful sense of anticipation on arrival. The black and white checkerboard marble floors – carefully re-instated to its original design – and high, detailed ceilings give a sense of old-world sophistication that perfectly suits intimate dinners and cocktail gatherings.

Atrium
Our Atrium is a beautiful glass conservatory at the rear of Old Customs House, connecting the main building to the Courtyard. This contemporary architectural addition brings the outdoors within, flooding it with natural light while staying protected from the elements. At night, see the city lights twinkle through the transparent roof.

Nine Below
Nine Below takes you on a journey of discovery, nine steps from the historic Market Street. Sliding double doors open from the glass-walled Atrium into our sun-drenched Courtyard, a tranquil haven in the middle of the energetic city.
