Gold Coast and Perth Virgin Australia lounges reopen

GC and Perth Virgin lounges return to make domestic business travel even more comfortable

If your executive loves to visit the lounge while business travelling, this news is bound to excite. Virgin Australia lounges in Perth the Gold Coast reopened on the 12January after almost 10 months of closure. These openings join their siblings at Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne with Canberra and Adelaide’s lounges set to reopen over the coming months, too.

A spokesperson for the airline told Executive Traveller that, “Virgin Australia is committed to a network of domestic lounges and we look forward to continuing to offer these fantastic spaces for our frequent flyers.”

While the lounges reopening is an exciting prospect, the Virgin lounge experience will look a little bit different. All Virgin Australia lounges now offer a limited range of food such as sandwiches, snacks, fruit and other small bites, with hot meals off the menu. The bar will still offer barista-made coffee and alcohol service from 12pm.

While Virgin’s standard lounges are beginning to recover, the jury is still out on their exclusive invitation-only lounge “The Club”. Virgin says “The Club” is under review as the airline moves towards a more mid-market strategy.
