Bonza goes bust

In April 2023 the airline announced 13 new direct routes to the Sunshine Coast, where it operates from

The low-cost airline Bonza, which only started flying passengers in January 2023 abruptly went into administration last week (30th April), following the repossession of its fleet of planes.

The sudden move was as much a surprise for its CEO, as it was the passengers, who were left with worthless tickets and out of pocket.

Bonza had no choice other than to temporarily suspended all services, while the owners considered their options.

Bonza’s chief executive, Tim Jordan, said “We apologise to our customers who are impacted by this and we’re working as quickly as possible to determine a way forward that ensures there is ongoing competition in the Australian domestic aviation market.”

Administrator Hall Chadwick said the company would be unlikely to offer refunds “We understand how frustrating this is and we appreciate customers patience at this time,” said a statement on their behalf.
